Ground Mirrors

In the ground mirror, the separate pieces of glass feature cuts that, instead of being hidden by curls, flowers and frills, as in the case of the Venetian mirror, are deliberately emphasised. The external profile of each plate of mirror is processed with abrasive tapes and natural or artificial stone grinding wheels, in order to create a refined and shiny edge. These mirrors consist of detached glass elements that together form frames and ornamental additions, simulating blown glass curls or leaves, but only flat. In Ongaro e Fuga ground mirrors, each individually ground piece produces a shiny and beguiling overall effect, with facets that recall diamonds and velvet.
